… warns against banned substances

As National sports Festival (NSF)kicked off in Edo State, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has received Torch of Unity as a sign of the State participation ahead of the national fiesta.
Akeredolu while receiving the Torch at the Governor’s house ,Akure the state capital, said his administration is committed to make athletes welfare a priority.
The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Luck Orimisan Aiyedatiwa warned athletes against using any banned substance at the Festival, adding that they should be a good ambassador of the state.
The Torch of Unity symbolises the readiness of each state to participate at the National Sports Festival tagged “Edo 2020”.
The governor maintained that sports are good avenues for social interaction and integration amongst the youth.He added that the current administration will continue to encourage youth through Sporting activities because of their role and usefulness to the society.
He enjoin the Sports Federation to continue to draw from the abundant talents in Ondo State to represent the country.
In his welcome address, the permanent secretary Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Engineer Wemimo Ogunsanmi said the state contingent will be a good ambassador of the state.
He added the state representative will do all they could to achieve better than what they did in Abuja 2018.
The representative of the National Sports commission, Mr Femi Ajao advised the state contingent to maintain good name they have built for themselves over the years.
Also, the General Manager of the sports Council, Mr Henry Omoyele Babatunde thanked the government for approving all their requests going to the Festival.
He said the state contingent has always known to be of good character, saying the “Edo 2020” will not be of exception.
“We are not going to disappoint the people of the state at the national fiesta,” he said.
