Ahead of the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival (NSF), Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu will this weekend receive Torch of Unity.
The Torch of Unity symbolises the readiness and the acceptability of each state participation at the national fiesta.
Speaking with Sporting Hope, General Manager, Ondo State Sports Council, Mr Henry Omoyele Babatunde said the Torch will move from Ekiti State to Ondo State on Saturday.
He added that the state’s contingent will also depart for the Edo State immediately after the Torch has been received.
Meanwhile,130 athletes will be representing the state in 18 sports at the 20th National Sports Festival.
The optimistic former swimming Silver medalist added that the state contingent would have a great outing at the Festival.
He expressed confidence that the state will surpass its performance at the 19th sports festival held in Abuja, especially in Wrestling, Kickboxing, Judo, Taekwondo and other sports.
The state came 10th on the medals table during the Abuja 2019 Festival with 14 gold, nine silver and 23 bronze medals.
