NUC approves 10 new programmes for Wesley University

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for the establishment of ten new academic programmes at Wesley University, Ondo.

In a statement by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the University, Mrs. Olarewaju Adebola, the approval was conveyed in an official letter from the NUC Secretariat, dated January 27, 2025.

The approval followed a resource verification visit by a panel of experts to assess the university’s human and material resources.

In the letter signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Mr. Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, the NUC confirmed that the newly approved programmes will run at the main campus of the university, with effect from the 2024/2025 academic session.

The newly approved programmes include Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, Office Management Technology, Quantity Surveying, Optometry, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters in Philosophy, and Urban and Regional Planning.

Others are Bachelor in Public Health, Radiography, Postgraduate Diploma and PhD in Philosophy, Community Health, as well as Economics, among others.

According to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Rt. Revd Prof. Sunday Obeka, the approval marks a significant milestone in the history of the Methodist Church Nigeria-owned university by enhancing its academic offerings and providing more opportunities for students in diverse fields of study.

He advised prospective students to apply now for these programmes as the university prepares to commence full academic activities for the approved courses.
