The National Universities Commission (NUC) has deaccredited two courses of the Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko. They are Mass Communication and Banking and Finance by the Nigeria University Commission, NUC.
While Mass Communication was de accredited outrightly, the NUC did not approve of MSC Banking and Finance.
The regulatory body made this known in a letter signed on March 19 and addressed to the institution’s vice chancellor.
Apart from the courses deactivated, some courses fully accredited, were Agriculture, Forestry and Wildlife, Early Childhood Education, Education Geography, Chemistry, Computer Science, Industrial Chemistry, Industrial Mathematics, Criminology and Msc Business Administration.
According to the statement, ” Not Accredited status has the following implication: immediate ban on student admission into programme, certificate issued to students admitted into such programmes after the ban on admission, will not be recognized but students who are currently enrolled on the programme will not be affected”
Those given interim accreditation include; Fisheries and Aquaculture and Performing Arts.
The statement stated that the accredited status is valid for the period of five years, meaning that courses given full accreditation would not be accredited in the next five years.
