Nurse jailed 6 months over attempt to steal

A 21-year-old auxiliary nurse, Jimoh Akeem, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by an Ondo Magistrates’ Court for unlawful entry into the dwelling house of a woman.
Akeem was said to have entered into the house of one, Funbi Ilemobayo in July 11, 2019 at about 2.30 a.m. at No 1 Akinmarin street, Ondo town .
The charges sheet read in part, “That you Jimoh Akeem in July 11, 2019 at about 2:30am at No 1 Akinmarin street, Ondo in the Ondo Magisterial District did unlawfully enter into the dwelling house of one Funbi Iiemobayo with intent to commit felony therein and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 414 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Abiodun Adebiyi, told the court that the convict had earlier entered the house to steal food items like rice, spaghetti among others.
He said the offence contravened sections 508, 414 and 509 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo, 2006.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge levelled against him.
Following the guilty plea, the defence counsel, Mrs A. Jessica prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing her client.
In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr Damilola Sekoni, sentenced the convict to six months imprisonment without an option of fine.
