NVFPL serves off today

The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Musa Nimrod has announced that the first leg of the 2019 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League serves off in Asaba, Delta State  today.

In a release made available to newsmen by the Chairman of media and publicity of  Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Kehinde Lamidi, eight male volley clubs led by the defending champion will slug it out in the male category.

Also the defending female champions, Nigeria Custom Volleyball club is leading other female clubs to compete for honors at a weeklong tournament.

After the technical meeting held at the indoor sports of Stephen Keshi stadium, Asaba, the hostilities begin today (Monday) with eight matches in the both male and female categories.

Speaking with  sports journalists on the second edition of the premier league, the  Nimrod said the league though without sponsor will parade the best volleyball male and female volleyball clubs in the country.

“With the provision of logistics, the premier league management committee has put all necessary machineries in place to ensure a successful hosting of the tournament”. Nimrod emphasised.

The chairman of the league management committee, Prof Olatunde Morakinyo reiterated the commitment of the committee to stage the best premier league having successfully concluded the division one edition in Ilorin few days ago.

The Zonal representative and member of the LMC, Famous Daunemigha welcomed the clubs,officials and other stakeholders to Asaba enjoining them to put heads together to ensure a successful tournament.

The Chairman of the Nigeria volleyball Referees Association, Samuel Timothy said competent and highly rated referees are on ground to handle the matches. charging all the participating teams to strictly adhere to the rules of the games.

The clubs are of high hopes to display an high level of volleyball proweress as the tournament serves off today Monday.
