…redeems cash prize

Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Saka Yusuf- Ogunleye has commended the doggedness of Sunshine Queens for defeating Ekiti Queens in matchday 13 of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) played at Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.

The Commissioner, who redeemed his earlier pledge of cash prize for the team on Thursday, charged them to win their last match of the season against Remo Stars’ ladies next week.

Yusuf-Ogunleye also urged the male team, Sunshine Stars to wake up from their slumber and win their next home match against Enyimba FC on Sunday.

According to him, the Owena Whales need to win their next match and subsequent matches to avoid relegation.

He said that their current position on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) log was also precarious

The Commissioner, who was represented by his Personal Assistant, Mrs Temitope E. A. fulfilled the promise of the commissioner

Yusuf-Ogunleye promised to be physically present at the subsequent matches of the two teams to give them needed support and motivation.

The Team Manager, Kenny Odogun, appreciated the commissioner’s gesture of encouraging the team.

Odogun also expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the Sunshine Queens.

Also,one of the Captains of the Queens, Taiwo Ajibade, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the team to the commissioner for his love towards the players and promised more excellent performance in their subsequent matches.
