Sunshine Queens FC head coach Oladimeji Abimbola has urged his players to put behind them 0-1 loss to Edo Queens in the matchday three of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).
He said they should focus on their next away match against Rivers Angels slated for Amasimaka Stadium Port Harcourt next week Wednesday.
He stated this after his side lost to an early goal scored by Edo Queens in the week three encounter played at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
Abimbola said it’s unfortunate that his side lost from such a cheap goal in the first half of the game.
He insisted that his young side will be improving match by match, saying they were devastated by the first half goal.
He said: “That was football for us, we lost at home, though, it was not the result we expected, but we can as well recover the lost points away, despite the result i still believe in my players”.
“We didn’t play badly, we were just unlucky not to have scored in today’s game, we created lots of goal scoring chances that were not converted.
“Nevertheless, we will go back to the drawing board and make amendment where it’s needed,” he said.
Sunshine Queens Football Club had unluckily went down to a first half goal against Edo Queens in the cracker which they tried to no avail to equalise.
The Akure Landladies started the encounter on a good note of keeping the maximum points in the kitty, before conceding from a free kick in the 6th minute of the tie.
The home side continued mounting pressure to get a leveller which never came before the center referee signalled the end of the first stanza.
The restart of the encounter saw Sunshine Queens taking the baton from where they left it, in anticipation to draw with their visitors which never came to fruition as Edo Queens kept tight their back line.
Home side efforts to get a share of the spoil was not successful as the matchday three ended in favour of the visitors.
