NWPL WK 9  – Sunshine Queens host Pelican Stars today

Sunshine Queens will today lock horns with Pelican Stars FC at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure the state capital.

Recalled on the 26th of April 2018, Pelican stars Fc of calabar failed to pick maximum three points in front of their home fans as they were drawn at home by visiting sunshine queens Fc.

Rofiat Imuran’s own goal in the 14th minute gave the home team the lead before goal sensation Tina Oyathelemhi scored the equalizer in the 44th minute to silence women football fans at the UJ Esuene stadium calabar.

According to the media officer of the Sunshine Queens, Michael Akintunde ,
“today’s encounter between this two sides is expected to be tactical with the position of the teams on the league table.

Sunshine Queens Fc are currently placed first in group B of the abridged league with 17 points from 8 matches while pelican stars are bottom with 7points.

Akure football fans are expected to watch another display of good football artistry at the ondo state sports complex, football pundits believe won’t be too easy for the home team.

Pelican stars Fc would be recalled picked maximum points convincingly in a Week 8 NWPL tie at home against Jokodolu babes, Winning 3-1 while sunshine queens Fc played a goalless draw in Oshogbo against Osun Babes fc.”

Sunshine Queens handler , Wemimo Mathew in a chat with newsmen described the week 9 tie against pelican stars as a must win.

” We ain’t gonna underrate the visitors in anyway, our target is to score goals and pick the maximum points in style ”

The coach is expected to make some changes to the squad that walked over Owena Angels in the round of 24 tie of the aiteo cup over the weekend.
