Ahead of National Youth Games (NYG), General Manager of the Ondo State Sports Council, Mr Henry Babatunde has disclosed that the state has put all machinery in place to slug it out with other five South West states at the zonal Elimination games scheduled to hold in Ilaji, Oyo state from August 16, to 17 this year.
Babatunde said Ondo State will go to the South West Zonal elimination with four ball games which include; Beach Volleyball (male), Basketball (male), Hockey male and female handball.
Sporting Hope understands that it’s only ball games that will compete in the zonal elimination games before the qualified sports will join other games in the National Youth Games proper in Delta state next month.
The general Manager said he is optimistic that the state athletes will do well at the zonal elimination games which has Ekiti,Osun Lagos Ogun and Oyo as competitors .
He said: “we are expecting that our team will do well, they have been preparing well for the developmental programme.”
“We hope that the four games will qualify for the next level of the games coming up in Asaba from September 7 to 17.”
