Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, is expected to generate over ₦88 million from its ongoing 2025 Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) screening exercise.
According to figures released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), a total of 44,155 candidates chose OAU as their first-choice institution in the 2025 UTME. With each applicant required to pay a non-refundable screening fee of ₦2,000 excluding portal access charges—the university stands to realize at least ₦88.31 million, assuming all applicants complete the payment process.
An official statement signed by the university’s Registrar, Mr. K.A. Bakare, disclosed that the online registration began on Monday, July 21, and will run until Sunday, August 24, 2025.
The screening itself is scheduled to hold online between September 1 and 5, while applicants are to check their screening schedules starting August 27.
Despite the large number of applicants, the university is expected to admit no more than 7,000 students for the 2025/2026 academic session. This implies that over 84 percentapproximately 37,000 candidates—may not secure admission unless through supplementary lists or other special considerations.
Meanwhile, the university has cautioned candidates against patronizing unauthorized agents or third parties. It warned that any applicant found submitting false information or forged documents would be automatically disqualified.
“All enquiries should be directed only to the official university communication channels,” the statement emphasized.
