The ancient town of Oba-Ile in Akure North Local Government, Ondo State was aglow with cultural display and celebration on Sunday as Adefoluke Veronica Agunbiade-Adu was installed as regent following the passing of the community’s traditional ruler, Oba Joseph Oluwadare Agunbiade.

The 55-year old regent, who is the first daughter of the late Oloba, was selected in line with Oba-Ile’s longstanding customs.

Her installation was conducted amidst elaborate traditional rites led by the town’s kingmakers and chiefs.

Following the installation, High Chiefs, cultural groups, and prominent indigenes took turns to pay homage at the palace.

“I accept this responsibility with humility and dedication.

“I enjoin all indigenes of Oba-Ile, both at home and in the diaspora, to join hands with me in the development of our community. I need the cooperation of everyone at this crucial time in our collective journey,” she said.

The occasion featured vibrant cultural displays by the Elegbe group, traditional music, and dances, all of which reflected the town’s rich heritage and deep reverence for traditional institutions.
