Obas’ Cup final holds today — LOC

All things being equal, the grand finale of the maiden edition of the Obas’ Cup kicks off today at the Aquinas College Akure football pitch.
The final hostility will be between Akoko North West local government and trade Owo local government, while Akure South LG will tackle trade with Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo in the third place.

According to a letter signed and made available to the newsmen by the Secretary of the Local Organising Committee (LOC)of the competition, Mr Samuel Patani, “Obas’ Cup third place match will be played on Friday by 1Pm, while the final match kicks off same day at 3Pm at the Aquinas College Akure football pitch.”

Meanwhile the main organising body of the competition, African Grassroots Football Development (AGFD) has awarded the Asiwaju Ndigbo of Odigbo local government, High Chief Ogbuefu Wilfred Onyema as the grand Patron of the organization.
In his reaction, the Onyema thanked the organisation for the honour done on him as their grand patron.

He said; “We will justify this honour, we will work assiduously for the upliftment of Nigeria youths, Ondo State and Odigbo LG at large.
“I was a footballer and I love the game, I will continue to support the round leather game at the grassroots and everything that will develop the state and taking our youths away from Social vices,” he said.
