Akoko North East U-17 football team displayed grit and determination as they held East Young Stars to a thrilling 2–2 draw in the ongoing O’datiwa U-17 Football Competition.
The encounter, played earlier today, kept spectators on their feet from start to finish, as both sides battled fiercely for dominance.
Despite facing a well-organised opponent, the Akoko North East boys showed resilience and teamwork to secure a deserved draw.
The Chairman of Akoko North East Local Government, Mohammed Olawale commended the players for their impressive performance, describing it as a true reflection of passion, unity, and determination.
He also expressed appreciation to the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his “visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to youth and sports development across the state.”
According to him, the ongoing football competition serves as an avenue for young people to discover and showcase their talents.
“This performance goes beyond the scoreline, it stands as a testament to the strength, talent and promising future of our young people,” he said.
Olawale further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting youth empowerment across all sectors, including sports, education and entrepreneurship.
He added that the local government would continue to invest in initiatives that nurture creativity and build resilience among young people, describing them as “the future of Akoko North East.”
