ODCSDA presents N25m to communities

As part of its commitment towards rural development, the Ondo State Government through the State Community and Social Development Agency (ODCSDA), have presented cheques worth over N25 million to three communities for micro projects.

 This was made known at the weekend at Ajue in Odigbo Local Government area during the official presentation of cheque to Ajue community for construction of three blocks of open market stalls (30Nos) and renovation of basic health centre staff quarters.

 General Manager, ODCSDA, Mr. Olatubosun Ogundipe said government established the World Bank Assisted agency to improve access to services for human development and empowering communities for sustainable development.

 He said the communities are empowered to identify, implement, maintain and use community social development plans.

 Ogundipe added that the state government’s 90 percent contribution complemented the 10 percent community contributed to part-finance, monitor, maintain sustainable and social inclusive multi-sectorial micro projects.

 He commended the government for its supports to the agency and its determination to develop and improve the well being of the rural dwellers.

 “Through the agency the Ondo State government have touched lives. We have completed micro projects across the 18 local council areas of the state which the communities identified as major challenges.

 “Within the last two weeks alone, we have presented cheques to three communities for different projects; Ajue- N8,998,857, Iyayu- N8,720,805 and Ajagba- N8,804,139.75. We appeal to the beneficiary communities to follow all agreements and be accountable”.

During the project implementation brief, Operations Manager of the agency, Mr. Olumide Igbaroola urged the communities to cooperate with the Community Project Management Committee (CPMCs) to execute a successful project.

 He said the agency target is not limited to infrastructures development but institutionalisation of the community driven development in which the people are given the resources and authority to drive efficient and effective developmental projects.

 Early, the Akogbe of Ajue Kingdom, Oba Bamidele Akinwe commended Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for supporting the agency to develop rural communities in the state.

 Oba Akinwe represented by the Lisa of Ajue, High Chief Festus Akinmoladun said the community had experienced very slow growth in the past, thanked the government and the community self help jobs that have transformed the area.
