ODHA assures robust relationship with executive

The Ondo State House of Assembly has said that it will continue to sustain the robust relationship and mutual understanding with the state executive arm of government with a view to take the state to greater heights.
A member of the House representing Akure South Constituency II, Sunday Olajide gave the assurance during a radio programme on Radio Nigeria in Akure the State capital.
He explained that the robust relationship of the 9th Assembly with the executive had made the state to witness development in term of relative peace, coordination among others with the Akeredolu-led administration.
According to him, the developments were achieved following the various good number of bills passed into laws, which include passage of annual budget into laws and comprehensive House activities and oversight functions into all Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
Comparing the 8th and the 9th Assemblies in the state, the lawmaker who is also the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation said the 9th Assembly is much stable in term of relative peace and coordination with majority of the lawmakers who were members of the All Progressives Congress were on the same level of understanding.
Though, he lamented the number of distortions that led to some unusual happenings which he said the assembly was able proffer solution to.
They include the breakout of COVID-19 pandemic which the state government with the cooperation of the House through budget got out of the pandemic.
“Due to the distortions, the priority of the House was altered and affected the 9th assembly as the constituency project in 2020 was impossible to be executed as a result of paucity of fund.
“Also, the governorship ambition of former Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi affected the House as some lawmakers went the way of the erstwhile deputy governor, while good number of members of the House stood their ground with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu” he said
Olajide , who noted that despite there was division among the lawmakers, saying that based on principle, the House was able to work together in term of coordination and expectation.
