ODHA condemns attack

Following the attack on Saint Francis Catholic Church Owo, where scores of worshippers were killed and many injured, Ondo State House of Assembly has urged residents of the state to be more security conscious and vigilant to avert such a sinister plan in their domains.

Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun gave the advice when he led members of the State House of Assembly to Saint Francis Catholic Church Owo, scene of Sunday’s terror attack.

The speaker also emphasized on reporting unscrupulous elements to law enforcement agents in the state in order to stamp out all forms of terrorism.

The lawmakers were received by members of Igbo community in Owo, who have been converging on the church premises to brainstorm on how to ameliorate the plight of the victims.

Addressing them, Mr. Oleyelogun, who noted that the legislative arm of government was deeply touched by the incident, regretted that such an attack was being carried out on  a place of worship.

He assured that the lawmakers would collaborate with them to assist victims of the attack, stressing that the unity of the country is not negotiable.

Also speaking, the Majority leader and member representing Owo State constituency, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi appealed to the igbo community whose members were greatly hit in the attack, not to allow the incident affect the relationship they had with Owo community.

Mr Ogunmolasuyi commended them for standing firm and upholding the spirit of brotherhood despite losing many members in the attack.

Responding, leader of the Igbo community, Owo branch, High Chief  John Ogbuebutelu, who appealed to the lawmakers to help fast track release of funds to care for those on admission,  demanded that security apparatus be beefed up.
