Ondo State House of Assembly yesterday confirmed the appointment of Mr Babatunde Adefusi Owate as the Director General, Ondo State Pension Commission.
The appointment was confirmed at a plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Bamidele Oleyelogun.
The confirmation followed a report from the screening of the House Committee on Selection headed by the Speaker and presented by the Deputy Speaker, Samuel Aderoboye.
Aderoboye said the nominee responded to all questions raised by the Committee in very eloquent and explicit order, noting that he has a clear understanding of the Pension’s Scheme, adding that he possessed the required academic qualifications, and physically, mentally, emotionally stable and fit to accomplish the challenges on the position as the DG.
The report also stated that he exuded the required experiences, charisma and the much needed exposure to function effectively.
Also, lawmaker representing his constituency, Akintomide Akinrogunde said Owate will put pension administration on a good path to achieve the desired result.
The Majority leader of the House, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi moved the motion for the report to be considered and the nominee be confirmed. It was seconded by the Minority Leader, Rasheed Elegbeleye.
The Speaker, Oleyelogun during the confirmation congratulated him and urged him to put in his best to make a difference.
In his response, Owate appreciated Governor Akeredolu for nominating him as a DG and also appreciated the lawmakers for their efforts during the screening and confirmation.
Owate, who is a Chartered Accountant promised to do everything at his disposal to ensure improvement in the system, pledging not to disappoint the people of the state.
