ODHA considers public accounts bills

Ondo State House of Assembly has considered the reports of the Public Accounts Committee on the reports of the State Auditor General on the audited accounts of the State Government from 2016-2021.

Also considered are the Audited Accounts of State Government for the years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.

The move is sequel to submission of reports of the Committee during plenary.

While submitting reports of the State Auditor General on the audited accounts of the State Government for the years ended 2016-2019, the Chairman of the Committee, Olatunji Ifabiyi noted that the move will further promote transparency, accountability and good governance in the State.

He also charged Accounting officers of all MDAs and Local Government Levels to ensure that officers handling their financial records have proper data before service transfer.

The Speaker, Olamide Oladiji who commended the Committee for a job well done acknowledged the collective efforts of the House and the Auditor General in ensuring transparency and accountability.

The bill was thereafter adopted after a voice vote.

The Majority leader had earlier move a motion for the bills to be adopted and it was seconded by the Deputy Majority leader, Princes Tosin Ogunlowo-Ajirotutu

The Public Accounts Committee is constitutionally empowered to scrutinise the financial expenditure of the government, ensure transparency and accountability of public funds as well as ensure that the people of ondo State get value from every government spending.
