ODHA evaluates OSOPADEC 2022 budget

Ondo State House of Assembly has conducted the year 2022, Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, (OSOPADE) budget evaluation and appraisal.

The programme organised by the House Committee on OSOPADEC has the Chairman and Management of OSOPADEC, Representatives of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget among others in attendance.

Speaker of the House, Bamidele Oleyelogun said the exercise is  to measure the year 2022 budget performance, brainstorm on way forward before receiving the year 2023 budget.

According to him, as representatives of the people, it is their responsibility to review, access and ascertain the implementation of budget passed for all round development.

He stressed the need for  the commission to continue to affect the lives of the people of the area positively.

Earlier, Chairman of the Committee, Prince Abayomi Akinruntan said OSOPADEC is a very important Agency in the State, and there is the need for the evaluation and appraisal of its 2022 budget .

According to him, it is the wish of the House to know whether the funds appropriated to it in the year under review was well spent and met the expectation of the people of the mandate areas.

While expressing satisfaction with documents furnished the Committee, Akinruntan added that the exercise was in preparation of the agency’s 2023 budget proposal.

Speaking shortly with newsmen, Chairman, OSOPADEC, Sam Erejuwa who appreciated the lawmakers,  described the exercise as fruitful.

Erewaju noted that it is part of their legislative duties to supervise Ministries, Departments and Agencies such as OSOPADEC to know whether the purpose of which it was established is being achieved.

He promised that the Agency will not rest on its oars  to meet the expectation of the people of the mandate areas.

The representative of the State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Adekunle Lateef Adesanya who  equally commended the efforts of the leadership of the house and the committee in ensuring budget  evaluation in the state, assured of support of the Ministry at all times.
