ODHA frowns at accumulation of debris in Akure

Ondo State House of Assembly has said that the roles of the ZL Company in charge of waste collection in the state must be well enumerated for optimal output, while noting that accumulation of debris around Akure, the Ondo state capital was not acceptable.
It however, commended the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the state Governor on Special Duties and Strategy for being on top of its duties in the state.
The Chairman house committee on procurement and Special Duties, Mr Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi gave the commendation when he led the committee on familiarisation visit to the office.
According to him, the intervention of the office in the areas of tax clearance, security, blocking loopholes among others cannot be over-emphasised.
He therefore called for synergy between the office and the assembly to further strengthen the system.
While saying that the visit is not to witch-hunt anybody, but to ensure necessary things are put in place, he assured that necessary steps will be taken on the issue raised.
Also speaking, a member of the committee, Mr Sunday Olajide who said he was impressed with what he heard on the activities of the office, charged them not to relent.
“This is a strategic intervention, you are a pillar in all these roles being played by this office. You are on top of activities, you are an asset that we can always depend on. Your office will be strengthened and encouraged to do more”,he stressed.
To him, the roles of the local governments and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry must also be well defined to avoid overlapping.
Earlier, the SSA to the State Governor, Dr Doyin Odebowale highlighted various roles of the office stating that the office to ensure that nobody defraud the state in terms of revenue.
He informed that the office was inaugurated in March 2017 and had addressed many issues including tracking those who engaged in petroleum hoarding , those who printed fake government tickets and clearance and monitoring the activities of okada riders to curb criminal activities among others.
He disclosed that the office has generated over one billion naira since 2018 till date which has made Ekiti State to come and copy how it is being done in the state.
He however called on the assembly to intervene on the issue of those occupying government stalls to know how much is being generated and where they are paying to, as many shop owners are not paying a dime.
