ODHA majority leader Ogunmolasuyi seeks royal support for Aiyedatiwa’s re-election bid
The Majority Leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, has embarked on a crucial visit to the royal palaces of traditional rulers within the Owo Local Government Area.
Ogunmolasuyi, who represents Owo Constituency 1, informed during the visit yesterday that it was aimed at garnering support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who is vying for re-election in the upcoming November gubernatorial election.
The Majority Leader, who also serves as the Chairman of the Southwest Majority Leaders Forum, began his royal tour with a visit to the palace of HRM Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo. Ogunmolasuyi described the Olowo as the supreme traditional ruler of Owo and expressed deep appreciation for his unwavering commitment to the peace and progress of Owo.
He acknowledged the pivotal and respected role the monarch has played in ensuring the stability and prosperity of the region.
During his audience with the Olowo, Ogunmolasuyi emphasized the importance of the upcoming gubernatorial election and the need for continuity in leadership. He lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa’s achievements and vision for Ondo State, asserting that the Governor’s re-election would further solidify the progress made in recent years.
The Majority Leader sought the Olowo’s support, recognizing that the Olowo’s endorsement is valuable given his esteemed position as a custodian of tradition and a beacon of unity within Owo.
In response, the Olowo reaffirmed his commitment to the peace and development of Owo, pledging to continue supporting efforts that align with the best interests of his people.
The Majority Leader then proceeded to the palaces of other respected traditional rulers, including HRM Olufemi Joel Adeluwoye II, the Asuada of Isuada. At each stop, he reiterated his message of unity and progress. The Asuada, known for his wisdom and leadership, was commended for his contributions to the peace in Isuada and his unwavering support for the community’s development.
Ogunmolasuyi also paid homage to HRM Ebenezer Adewumi Ogunmolasuyi II, the Olupenmen of Ipenmen, and HRM Alayeluwa Oba Kokumo Oluwabamise Olotu Upa Ogbomaga III, the Alale of Idasen. During these visits, the Majority Leader emphasized the crucial role traditional rulers play in maintaining peace and stability, acknowledging their support as instrumental to the success of the APC in the forthcoming election.
The visit was not limited to monarchs alone; Ogunmolasuyi also met with Chief Mrs. Iwaloye Funmilayo, the Iyaloja of Owo. He noted that as a high chief and a formidable leader within the market community, her influence is widely recognized. The Majority Leader appreciated her unwavering dedication to the welfare of the market community and sought her continued support for the party’s candidate in the upcoming election.
Ogunmolasuyi believes that the royal tour is essential because of the vital role that traditional institutions play in the socio-political landscape of Ondo State. He stressed that engaging with the royal fathers was to reaffirm his deep respect for the region’s cultural heritage and a strategic effort to unite all stakeholders toward the common goal of ensuring a peaceful and successful electoral process.
According to him, the visit is part of his commitment to Owo and Ondo State’s progress as the gubernatorial election approaches. He expressed confidence that a mutual relationship with the traditional rulers will galvanize support for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s re-election, reinforcing the APC’s commitment to continued development and prosperity in Ondo State.
