ODHA passes 2022 budget reordering

A bill for a law to amend the year 2022 appropriation law was yesterday passed into law by the Ondo State House of Assembly.

Also, Ondo State Government 2023-2025 medium term expenditure framework (MTEF) was also passed into law at a plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Bamidele Oleyelogun.

Submitting report and recommendations of the first bill, the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Akinrogunde Akintomide said after proper scrutiny, the Committee recommended an approval of the pooling of a total sum of three billion, seventy-four million, eight hundred and four thousand, two hundred and sixty-two naira and forty-six kobo (N3,074,804,262,46) only from recurrent expenditure component of the 2022 Budget and the re-allocation of the funds among existing programmes within the recurrent component without any alteration to the budget size.

The Committee recommended an approval of the pooling of the sum of Nineteen Billion, Two Hundred and Thirty One Million, Three Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira (N19,231,340,000.00) only from capital expenditure component of the 2022 Budget and re-allocation of the funds amongst existing projects in the capital expenditure Component without any alteration to the Budget size.

The Committee recommended that the State Government should ensure that the provisions of the re-ordered funds are conscientiously applied to the needs stated therein so that the good intention behind the re-distribution of funds in the year 2022 State Budget would be fully attained

The ammended bill was therefore passed into law with an approval through a voice votes after the Majority Leader of the House, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi moved a motion for the ammended bill to be passed into law which was seconded by a Lawmaker representing Ondo West Constituency 2, Adewale Adewinle.

Subsequently, the Committee Chairman, Akinrogunde who presented the reports and recommendations of the second bill said  that as carefully captured in the document, the State Government should continue to ensure that its Medium Term Expenditure framework is tailored towards achieving its philosophies and aspirations.

The bill was equally passed into law through a unanimous decision of the House after a motion was moved by the Majority Leader, Ogunmolasuyi and seconded by a Lawmaker representing Akoko South East, Towase Kuti.
