ODHA passes consumer protection Agency Bill

The Ondo State House of Assembly has passed into Law a bill to provide for the establishment of the Ondo State Competition and Consumer Protection Agency after sailing through the third reading.

The passage followed the submission of a report of the Committee on Commerce and Industry by its Chairman, Rasheed Elegbeleye for consideration and approval.

Elegbeleye said that the bill when passed into Law will maintain and regulate the standard of production and quality of consumer consumption in the State.

The Majority Leader ,Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi while moving a motion for the bill to be move to third reading and pass into law, appreciated the Committee for a job well done.

Also four bills scaled through second reading and were committed to the appropriate Committees for scrutiny.

The bills are: a bill for a Law to amend the Ondo State Micro Credit Agency and other Ancillary Matters Law 2008, A Law to Establish the Ondo State Coroner System, Regulate the process of Death Investigation, A bill for a Law for the Establishment of the Ondo State Cocoa Revolution and Management Agency and A bill to Establish the Ondo State Agribusiness Empowerment Center (OSAEC).

While expressing displeasure over the recent kidnap of a monarch in Ajowa, Akoko North West of Ondo State, the Oloso  of Oso, Oba Jimoh Omoola, the lawmakers condemned the high level of insecurity in the area and called on relevant Security Agencies in the State to network and collaborate for the quick release of the royal father.

Oleyelogun also appealed to the Vigilante, in the area to join hands with the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun in order to intensify the search for the Monarch.
