ODHA pledges support for Finance Ministry, Bureau of Statistics

The Ondo State House of Assembly has declared total support for the State Ministry of Finance as regards transparency.
The House Committee on Finance and Appropriation made the declaration during its familiarization visit to the State Ministry of Finance in Akure.
The Chairman of the Committee, Sunday Olajide who led other members to the Ministry appreciated the Commissioner and his team for their commitment despite the economic challenges in the country which has affected all States.
According to him, the Ministry must continue to be vibrant based on its importance in ensuring transparent administration in the state, assuring that the House will always support every move in achieving the set goals.
Other lawmakers who described the ministry as the engine room of any administration, encouraged them to put in more efforts for the government to achieve more feats.
Earlier, the commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa while appreciating the committee members for their visit and mutual understanding affirmed that the committee has been so supportive to the Ministry.
The commissioner, who described the visit as apt, pledged that the Ministry would continue to collaborate with the committee to move the state forward.
The committee also visited the State Bureau of Statistics, where they charged the agency on collation of accurate data for the overall development of the state.
The Chairman of the committee, Sunday Olajide emphasized the importance of accurate data collation for proper planning and equally called for synergy with the Bureau at ensuring the ease of operations.
Earlier, while welcoming the committee, the Statistician General, Mr Wole Agunbiade appreciated the committee for their visit and sought for their intervention in the budgetary allocation to the Bureau for the smooth running of operations.
Also, the committee visited an insurance company owned by the Ondo and Ekiti State Governments, Prime Investment Insurance Brokers Ltd.
The committee Chairman affirmed that the visit is important since the Insurance Company is owned by the state government.
Olajide who noted that the visit was to familiarise with the company and have an understanding abouts their strength and weakness, said that the committee will come for a thorough oversight soon ,so as to know where they will need legislative support.
The MD/CEO of the company, Mr. Francis Alonge, who appreciated the Committee for the visit commended Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his efforts at reviving the company which according to him has been moribund without a licence before he appointed Mrs. Olubunmi Ademosun as the Chairperson.
