ODHA pledges support for LGSC

Ondo State House of Assembly has assured the State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) of finding solutions to their challenges and help them achieve maximum performance.

The Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Samuel Aderoboye, a member representing Odigbo constituency 11, gave this assurance during a familiarization visit to the commission in Akure.

While briefing the committee on their report, the Permanent Secretary Local Government Service Commission, Mr Kehinde Ige appreciated the committee for their visit and said the major challenge of the commission was lack of funds, which had limited their performances.

He further listed lack of adequate office accommodations and decaying infrastructural facilities as challenges facing the board.

Also speaking, Permanent Secretary Local Government Pension Transitional Department, Dr Bunni Eniayewu commended the present administration led by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the payment of all the backlog of salaries by the previous administration and for also paying their monthly salaries regularly.

He further said that the department which is now under the supervision of Ondo State Head of Service lack funds which has also affected payment of gratuities and pension noting that the department is still looking forward for the sum of 150 Million naira promised by the state government to pay the pensioners.

Permanent Secretary Local Government Staff Loans Board, Otunba  Tunde Monehin said they have not been able to access enough funds which is affecting their output. He also said the Law establishing the board needs an update , which they have been working on to send to the House of Assembly for amendment so that the primary school teachers will also have access to loans in the state.

Earlier, The Chairman LGSC, Mr Femi Idris appreciated the committee for their visit, saying that the commission will be looking forward to work hand in hand with the committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the 9th assembly.

While speaking, a member of the Committee, Mr Suleiman Maito, commended the efforts of Local Government Pension Board for their outstanding performance.

He said that the board has been trying its best where senior citizens who gave their best to the state were concerned, and expressed hope that the unpaid dues would be tackled very soon even if the Assembly will have to meet the Governor.

Also in his response, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr Samuel Aderoboye said, “The problems and challenges are general problems which affect others as well, so we urge you to bear with us as we promise to find solution to it very soon’, he said.

He appreciated the performance of the management so far, and urged them to put in more efforts.

Other members of the committee in attendance were, Mr Olamide Oladiji, Mr Felemu Bankole, Mr Simeon Borokinni, Mr Abayomi Akinruntan, Mr Akintomide and Mr Sunday Olajide.
