Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed Dr. Joseph Igbekele Aremo as the new Chairman of Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC).
The House also confirmed the immediate past Chief Judge of the State, Justice Williams Akintoroye as Chairman of the State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission.
It also confirmed the reappointment of Dr. Soji Omowole, Oladele Akinyelure, Esq., Mr. Adeleye Olatunde Adeniyi, Mrs. Stella Omotoso, Mr. Rotimi Olorunfemi and Dr. Ibraheem Tajudeen Ojo as Members of ODIEC.
The nominations of Prof. Adewole Adeyeye; Christopher Omotayo Ogungbemi, Esq and Mrs. Funmi Osundolire were also confirmed as members of the State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission by the House.
The confirmation came after a unanimous decision of the lawmakers at a plenary presided over by the Speaker Bamidele Oleyelogun .
Earlier, while presenting the recommendations of the Selection Committee of the House on behalf of the Speaker , the Deputy Speaker , Samuel Aderoboye noted that all the nominees were found eligible and suitable for the offices upon their screening as they possessed required academic qualifications to function effectively noting that they are physically, mentally and emotionally stable.
He added that they possessed needed exposures fit for the jobs
The Majority Leader of the House, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi who commended the Committee for a job well done, moved a motion for the confirmation of their appointments and was seconded by a Lawmaker representing Irele constituency, Samuel Edamisan and a Lawmaker representing Okitipupa constituency 2, Akintomide Akinrogunde.
The Deputy Speaker while speaking glowingly about the appointees, described them as a round peg in a hole and wished them well in their assignments .
Also, a Lawmaker representing Ese- Odo constituency , Success Torhukerhijo while Speaking on the appointees of the State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission, believed that financial crimes will be checkmated in the State as those to handle it are disciplined and courageous personalities.
Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun urged the appointees to use their wealth of experiences to further reposition the sectors for optimum performance.
The New Chairmen while addressing the House during the plenary thanked Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the State House of Assembly for considering them worthy to serve the people, pledging to work hard to achieve the set goal.
The Speaker, while welcoming Honourable Members to the House from recess to attend to important State assignment adjourned sitting till further notice.
