ODHA task Nigeria on tech-based institutions

Nigeria must give serious consideration to developing technology-based institutions to fast-track technological advancement and make the youth more effective with the global trend.

Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on tertiary institution, made the assertion during a familiarization visit to the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology OAUSTECH in Okitipupa.

The committee charged the management to partner more with donor agencies for optimal performance and improved academic excellence.

The Chairman of the Committee, Chris Ayebusiwa noted that the familiarization visit  became imperative to seek ways both parties can work hand in glove for the development of the institution.

He expressed delight over the massive development in terms of students’ population, road and building infrastructures as well as construction of some ongoing projects in the institution.

The Chairman assured that the legislature will work with them to achieve the desired results in terms of academic excellence, quality education and speedy completion of the ongoing projects.

The Vice Chancellor of OAUSTECH, Professor Temi Ologunorisa who thanked the team for the visit, noted that it will go a long way to strengthen the cordial relationship between the house and the institution.

Prof Ologunorisa who thanked Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for making the university one of the most sought for in the area of sciences, noted that the institution now has six faculties as against the initial two and can boast of a students’ population of over 4000.

The VC noted that all its programmes are fully accredited and has a 21st century world class library for research.

While explaining that the vision of the University is to key into the new economy of the world which is the blue economy, the don sought for the support of the committee to overcome the institution’s challenges particularly in the area of land encroachment among others.

The committee was later conducted round facilities at the institution.
