Ondo State House of Assembly has charged the State boundary commission to continue to deliver on its mandate in ensuring relative peace in the State.

The House committee on SDG, Intergovernmental affairs and Multilateral Relations gave the charge during a visit to the commission in Akure.

The Committee led by its Chairman, Tiamiyu Fatai Atere appreciated the Secretary and his team for holding forth and ensuring that the business of government move forward.

The committee, while saying that the role of the commission in resolving boundary disputes cannot be over emphasised, also called for cordial relationship towards achieving the desired objective.

They noted that the visit became imperative and long overdue after the inauguration of new standing committees to get acquainted with the management and ensure robust relationships so as to continue to deliver on the set objective.

The lawmakers while commending the Akeredolu-led administration for ensuring relative peace in the state, also gave kudos to the commission for a job well done and charged the management team not to relent.

While briefing the parliament members on their activities and challenges, the Secretary of the Commission, ldowu Owolabi informed that the commission was established by the Ondo State edit in 1994.

He stated further that the commission is saddled with the responsibility and management of boundary disputes in the State with the Deputy Governor as chairman with other members in the composition.

The Secretary noted that the commission has intervened in several disputes in interstate, intrastate and communal disputes or intra local government disputes.

He sought for the committee’s support in accessing funds and getting necessary tools to be more effective in their activities.
