ODHA tasks TESCOM on teachers’ welfare

The Ondo State House of Assembly has charged the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), to continue to work towards improving the welfare of teachers to enhance their productivity.
the lawmakers noted that if teachers’ incentives are given necessary priority, it will make them deliver more.
Chairman House Committee on Education, Toluwani Borokini who led other lawmakers on a visit to the Commission, implored them to be transparent in filling up the space of retired teachers.
Borokini said cultism in schools are now taking a serious toll on the society as it affects the educational and moral standards of students, hence the need to tackle it headlong.
The lawmaker also charged relevant agencies in the education sector to work hand in glove to curb the menace of cultism in schools.
He noted that if cultism is not tackled properly, it will have a negative effect on the society at large.
The committee chairman maintained that it is important to eradicate cultism in schools to restore peace and security in the society.
He equally urged the Management of the commission to improve more on examination monitoring.
Other members who pledged to continue to support them to achieve the set goal, charged the management to continue to put all hands on deck towards effective service delivery.
The Permanent Secretary in the Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Tolulope Adeyemi noted that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is committed to making teachers’ welfare a priority.
Mrs. Adeyemi pledged that the commission will continue to collaborate with the legislature to move the state forward.
