Odigbo celebrates day in grand style

The people of Odigbo, in Odigbo Local Government Area of ondo State, on Saturday, rolled out drums to celebrate the 2018 Odigbo Day, as Ondo State Government reiterated its commitment to partner with interested communities in developing their potentials.

The Ondo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Ismaila Ayodeji Olurimisi, who represented  the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at the event, commended the communal efforts of the people of the town, in the areas of development and peaceful coexistence.

He said the present government has come to alleviate poverty and foster the social and economic condition of the our communities.

“As we celebrate the 2018 Odigbo Day, it is important to take a moment to appreciate the Almighty God who has made it possible for us  to create a positive change for a brighter and better tomorrow for our people and the nation in general as a party which is our mission.

“The government led by His Excellency, Akakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, is happy with Odigbo kingdom and its people for their support over the years.

” The turnout today, will go a long way to tell the state government that Odigbo is self sustainable and self sufficient. But I want to assure you that Mr. Governor is determined to uplift the statues of every community in the state, including Odigbo.

“We pledge to utilize our resources to fulfil a vision that creates an enabling society that would foster equal rights to opportunities.”

Earlier in his address, the Orunja of Odigbo Kingdom, Oba Rufus Olugboyega Akinrinmade (FCNA, FCPA) Adebusoye 1, said, “To our sons and daughters, I cherish your commitment to constantly identify with your roots and extend same gestures to our neighbours who have been allies in the developmental strides of Odigbo kingdom.

“Without mincing words, Odigbo is moving forward. Our strides may not be in leaps and bounds, they may not be giant still, but little by little, we are taking one step after another forward.

“It is this end, I encourage you to always constantly look back, work harder and contribute generously to place this kingdom, Odigbo in the rightful pedestal it belongs.

Oba Akinrinmade, however, urged the people of Odigbo and the state, especially the youths to encourage peace during and after the fourth coming general elections saying Odigbo and its environs still need more government present politically and developmentally.

The Chairman of the Day, Alhaji Sikiru Olurimisi, who is also the Are Musulumi of Odigbo kingdom,  said the monarch’s new initiatives and ideas in Odigbo has really turned things around for good for the people and the community.

He advised the people of  Odigbos both home and abroard, including politicians to contribute their quota to the development of the accident town, saying there is no place like home.

Also the Chief Launcher of the Day and Sariki Sabo, Odigbo, Sariki Ibrahim Nakaulaha, appreciated the monarch and the community for the peaceful coexistence with other tribes in the kingdom especially the Hausa community.

He said the Hausa community will continue to support and contribute its quote to the development of  the town”.
