Odigbo LG chair tasks legislators-elect on development

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress,APC, Mr. Babatunde Ikumawoyi, has charged the newly elected members of Ondo State House of Assembly to partner Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, in his bid to develop the state.
Ikumawoyi, who is the Caretaker Chairman, Odigbo Local Government assured that with the leadership quality of the governor, the lawmakers cannot be relegated to a mere rubber stamps legislators in the discharge of their duties.
In the House of Assembly election conducted on March 9, the APC won 23 of the 26 seats as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He implored the lawmakers to have determined mindsets to serve the state and not engage in any battle with the executive that will bring setback to the state
According to him, when inaugurated the lawmakers should focus on their legitimate functions by passing bills that will have positive impact in the development of the state.
“Peacefully, they should make laws that will promote the development, progress and unity of the state and at the same time cooperate and support Mr. Governor to continue his good work.
“Mr. Governor has started well, so they should join hands with him to continue with his vision to industrialized the state, therefore, they should carryout their legitimate functions as it is expected of them.
“With the kind of refined governor like Akeredolu that we have, I am sure that there will be mutual respect and partnership that will make Ondo great in all spheres.
Ikumawoyi however congratulated President Buhari on his re-election and lawmakers-elect on the platform of APC in the state especially in Odigbo local government, describing their victories as a testimony and indication of trust Nigerians have in President Buhari leadership and fight against corruption.
He urged them to see their victory at the polls as a call for more service to humanity and total commitment to the development of their constituencies.
Speaking about the election, which predominantly favoured APC, he added that the electorate in the state are now better informed about how to make the right choices for good governance.
“Our people decided to vote for real governance. APC as a party remain the best choice for Nigeria to move the country to next level.
“This was due to the good performance of our governor. It’s a clear facts that people love and believe in the governor efforts to transform the state to a wonder land”. he said.
