Odigbo LG presents N5bn budget

The Chairman of Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State, Mr.Taiwo Adegoroye, has presented a N5.1 billion appropriation bill to the Legislative Council.

This initiative formed part of his administration’s efforts to consolidate the ongoing transformation within the council area.

Presenting the budget, Adegoroye reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable Odigbo.

“This N5 billion budget of consolidation is a testament to my determination to make every naira count. Sixty per cent is earmarked for capital expenditure, while forty per cent is allocated to recurrent expenditure,” he said.

The N5,115,268,428.96 budget proposal presented to the legislative arm outlines expenditures covering local government staff, both civil servants and political office holders, teachers, pensions and gratuities, traditional rulers’ allowances, social contributions, overheads, and other costs.

The economic segment of the 2025 Odigbo Local Government budget proposal highlights several capital projects, including the construction and provision of facilities, rehabilitation and repairs, environmental preservation, and other developmental initiatives.

“To achieve these objectives, financial discipline and transparency are essential. The funds will be sourced through Internally Generated Revenue, Statutory Allocations, and Development Grants. My administration remains committed to providing regular updates for accountability,” Adegoroye added.

In his response, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Ademeso Adewole, commended the chairman for his achievements in infrastructure, health, education, security, and environmental sanitation.

“I must also commend you for providing councillors with a befitting legislative chamber and well-equipped offices,” Adewole noted.

He assured the chairman that the Legislative Council would give the proposed 2025 budget the attention it deserves.

“We will give the budget accelerated reading and passage to ensure the people of Odigbo Local Government benefit fully from its provisions,” he stated.

In a related development, Adegoroye inspected the renovated Rate Office in Ore, as part of efforts to improve staff welfare and ensure efficient public service delivery.

Speaking during the inspection, Adegoroye stressed the importance of creating a functional and comfortable workspace for government employees.

In his remarks, the Head of the Rate Office, Mr. Akinyose James, expressed appreciation for the project, noting that the upgraded facility would significantly boost staff morale and productivity.
