ODIRS chairman resigns

The Chairman of Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS), Tolu Adegbie has resigned from his position.
According to a statement he personally issued, Mr. Adegbie said the decision is due to his recent appointment as a member of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Implementation Committee.
He said his new assignment will require his physical absence from the office over the next four months.
The statement read, “With a heavy heart and in line with Section 12 (1)(a) of the Ondo State Revenue Administration Law 2018, I wish to resign my appointment as the Executive Chairman of Ondo State Internal Revenue Service effective immediately.
“This decision is due to my recent appointment as a member of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Implementation Committee, which will require my physical absence from the office over the next four months. While it is possible to run the office remotely because we have migrated many of our activities and processes online, I believe that working remotely may be counterproductive to this important national assignment. A copy of my letter of appointment is attached.
“I was able to grow the IGR of the State from N10.9 billion in December 2017 to N40.1 billion in December 2023, a growth of almost 300 per cent. Our H1 2024 figures are N21.2 billion, and if we maintain this run rate, we should surpass the 2023 FYE figure. I leave behind an ODIRS that is well-structured, properly staffed, and effective in the delivery of service and value to the state and its citizens whilst operating from a world-class headquarters building.”
Adegbie appreciated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for giving him the privilege to serve.
“It has been a privilege to be given an opportunity to serve my state in this capacity, and I thank the late Governor and Your Excellency for this. I wish to assure Your Excellency that I will be grateful if I am considered again to serve Ondo State in any capacity after this national assignment.
“I have written a comprehensive handover note, and it is available with the DD (HR & ICT) at ODIRS.”
