The Ondo State Council for Islamic Affairs (ODSCI) has called on the state government to empower security operatives in Owo town to seize unlicensed arms and ammunition from citizens.
The advice was contained in a letter titled “Our Heartfelt”, signed by the State Chairman, Alhaji Waidi Ademola Fadola, and made available to Weekend Hope in Akure.
In the letter, the council condemned the gruesome killings of cult members and the wanton destruction in Owo town, urging the government to deploy all available resources to apprehend the perpetrators.
The council also expressed condolences to the families of victims, including innocent members of the public who may have suffered losses.
While congratulating the governor on his re-election and wishing him a successful tenure, the letter expressed shock over the death of the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Temidayo Oluwatuyi.
The council extended its sympathy to the governor, the executive and legislative members, and the people of Ondo State, both at home and in the diaspora.
Additionally, the letter suggested strengthening the borders between Ondo State and its neighbours and urged an increase in the inclusion of Muslims in the administration of Aiyedatiwa at all levels.
