ODSG assures on cleaner environment

Ondo State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Oyeniyi Oseni has reiterated government’s resolve to rid the state of dirty environment.
He spoke while playing host to the state chapter of Environmental Health Officers of Nigeria in his office in Akure.
According to him, government is putting measures in place to wage war against dirty environment in the state, noting that no stone will be left unturned in this regard.
While stressing the need for the Ministry’ s collaboration with the association, he revealed that Lassa fever has recorded over 300 cases with over 30 deaths in year 2024, calling for fact check to provide lasting solution to it.
He expressed appreciation to the group for its observation in the state saying “we are ready to put our strategy in place.”
Speaking earlier, the State President of the association, Sanitarian Olufunke Babajide said that the visit was aimed at familiarizing with the Commissioner and also to inform him about some environmental issues in the state.
She noted that the state used to be among the neatest in the country, stressing the need for it to reclaim its lost glory.
According to her, the environment should always be made clean to prevent the outbreak of diseases including Lassa fever and Tuberculosis.
She called for more action from government to rid the state of illegal waste dumping and disposal saying “if the aspect of prevention is taken care of, there won’t be need to spend money on curative.”
