Leading the monitoring team to the site of the project to evaluate the preparedness of the contractors, the state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Taofik Abdulsallam said the project is in fulfilment of the governor’s promise to improve the aesthetic level of Akure, being the seat of government.

“This is one of the roads in Alagbaka and the governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has promised from day one that he is going to make Alagbaka a new seat of government that people will respect, that once they drive in to Alagbaka, they will notice it as a government area.

“The road is from CBN down to Bishop’s Court and should be completed between two to three months” . he said.

The Commissioner who later led the monitoring team to the site of the ongoing dualisation of ‘A’ Division-Ijoka road, assured that the contractor will deliver on time, noting that he is pleased with the pace of work on the road.

“As we are visiting everyday, renovations are coming up, and that is the essence of supervising the job, and we are impressed with what they are doing , they are still working within the time frame they gave us”, he said.

Special Adviser to the governor on works, infrastructure and Land, Engr. Raimi Aminu said dualisation of the CBN road is part of the urban renewal agenda of the governor, especially in the state capital.

He noted that the road is part of the project earmarked to be executed in the year 2018, saying the project started late due to the fact that contractors brought the design late.

“The contractor has assured us of mending the gap between the design period that they have wasted”, he said.

“Before February, the second year anniversary, this section would have been completed, the contractor will then move to the next segment which is from the NEPA roundabout to Oluwatuyi,” he stated.

Also on the monitoring team was the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Renewal, Prince Solagbade Amodeni who informed that his ministry has notified owners of illegal structures along the Alagbaka corridor to vacate the premises.
