ODSG commissions projects at Idanre General Hospital

As part of efforts at improving the quality of health care delivery, Ondo State government on Thursday, commissioned some projects at the Idanre General hospital.

The commissioned projects include; chest clinic, modern mortuary extension and a complex which house the ante natal clinic, family planning and immunisation clinic.

The event was also used to unveil the proposed master plan of the hospital.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, who applauded the developmental strides in the hospital, commended the Medical Director of the facility, Dr. Kayode Omisogbon for giving the hospital a facelift through the various projects he has facilitated.

According to him, Omisogbon has really done well by making judicious use of government fund within his reach.

He said, “A lot of people got the fund as he got his, but misused it. Government is grateful to him for doing a good job.”

He also appreciated the Idanre community for its self help developmental efforts in the facility which have assisted  in improving the quality of service  in the hospital.

Speaking further, he noted that with the high patients turnout in the hospital, the clinic will benefit from the Contributory Health Scheme when it commences fully.

He commended the staff for cooperating with the management of the hospital and stressed the need to take precautions in handling patients, especially this period of coronavirus outbreak in Nigeria.

He assured that the Federal Government is battle ready to combat the virus, while Ondo State government has put in place measures to prevent it in the state saying, “the Infection Disease Hospital is fully prepared in case of any suspected case in the state.”

“Also in the next two days, a team will be visiting Lagos State to under study procedure in order to know the steps to be taken in case of any outbreak in the state.”

However, he called on the people of the state not to embark on any trip that is unnecessary.

Speaking earlier, Dr. Omisogbon expressed appreciation to government and staff for their contributions towards the development of the facility and solicited more support from them.

Addressing the gathering, a member, Idanre Community Health Committee, High Chief Adetuyi while thanking God for the completion of the projects, commended Dr. Omisogbon for bringing improvement to the hospital, urging him to continue to do more to impact humanity through his hardwork in the hospital.

He, however called for more support from staff so as to take the hospital to the next level.

He listed running nose, cough, chest pain, fever etc as some of the symptoms of the airborne virus and advised that health workers maintain good personal hygiene by  regular washing of hands with soap and water.

He admonished them to be suspicious of all health cases by not attending to patients with their bare hands, adding that they should avoid crowded areas to avoid the spread of the infection.
