Stakeholders in the agricultural sector have been enjoined to collaborate with the Ondo State Government to nip in the bud activities of some merchants adulterating produce items.
The Ondo State Government recently destroyed some seized adulterated items and warned those involved in the act to desist or face full wrath of the law.
Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Produce/Forestry Sub-sector, Mr Oluwagbenga Akingbasote gave the advice while destroying the seized items, in Akure.
Listing cocoa beans and Palm kernel as most affected, he described those involved in the dastard act as economic saboteurs, saying their dubiousness and greed is inimical to the growth of produce trade in the state and the country at large.
According to him, the illicit business had been going on for years, where they buy and process cocoa placentas, using them for adulteration.
The ministry , he explained, invited the suspects for questioning and made to sign an undertaking that they will not go back to the illegal business again, after which they paid the stipulated fine and forfeited the seized adulterants, which were destroyed.
