ODSG distributes relief materials to rainstorm victims

Victims of rainstorms in Akure and Owo communities have received relief materials from the Ondo State Government
The rainstorm destroyed property worth millions of naira in some areas in the State capital, Akure on Match 26 and 29 2023.
The rainstorm wreak havoc in some areas in Owo on February 28 and March 1 respectively
Areas worse hit in Akure by the rainstorm were: Ayedun, Eyin Ala, High School and Araromi, all in Akure South Local Government.
While that of Owo were: Ipele, Igboroko, Upenmen, Ago-Paanu and others
Presenting the materials to the victims, Acting Governor of Ondo State, Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa thanked God that no life was lost during the rainstorm
Aiyedatiwa who is also the Chairman, Ondo State Emergency Management Agency (ODSEMA) reiterated government’s determination to continuously assist the people of the State especially during distress .
“This exercise is in line with the utmost desire of the administration of Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to prioritize the welfare of the good people of this State by ensuring that their rights to security and protection are ensured”.
He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials, while appealing to residents to embrace tree planting that would serve as windbreakers.
The acting Governor called for concerted efforts on Disaster Risk Reduction and enhanced collaboration between emergency responders at community, local and State levels.
Addressing the rainstorm victims in Owo, Aiyedatiwa said the state Government felt the pains of the people of Owo.
He said the state Government had always been responding to help victims of natural disasters in the state.
Chairmen of Akure South and Owo Local Governments, Olugbenga Olaniyi and Chief Samuel Adegbegi appreciated government for the prompt intervention, nothing that, the affected beneficiaries would continue to remember government’s humane disposition.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Folorunso Fagba, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, appreciated the state government’s responsiveness to the plight of the people.
Materials distributed at the event were, Corrugated Sheets, Roofing Nails and other building materials.
