Determined to eradicate poverty among the vulnerable, the Ondo state government has empowered another physically challenged person to boost his poultry business.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture and Agric Business, Mr Akin Olotu officially handed over the poultry house and presentation of cheque to the beneficiary in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
Olotu described the Governor’s gesture as part of his commitment towards empowering people in agriculture.
He said the Governor was impressed with the zeal and desire of the physically challenged beneficiary, Mr Majasan David Oluwaniyi to work, despite his challenges which earned him the empowerment.
The empowerment, he said, would be a shining example to others that they can do something.
Olotu during his visit to the beneficiary, said he said was rearing chickens in a room within his building which he noted attracted his interest and the need to ensure that he is engaged economically for self sustenance and to cater for his household.
” The state has constructed a poultry pan with an overhead water tank to service the poultry as well as presenting him with a cheque of N800,000 to buy the birds and feeds for the chicken to be raised,” Olotu stressed.
The physically challenged Mr Majasan Oluwaniyi, a native of Ijare in Ifedore local government area of Ondo state appreciated the state government and particularly, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and for making the promise a reality.
He appreciated the governor for the life-changing gesture which he said will improve his standard of living, make him employed and the ability to cater for his family.
It would be recalled that the state government had earlier empowered over 35 people in the sector.
