ODSG enforces security operations at Reserved areas

Determined to boost food production and crash current high cost of food items, Ondo State Government has begun full enforcement of security operations to ensure the safety of farmers at the forest reserved areas and farms across the State.

To this end, the government security enforcement team has visited some forest reserved areas including Idanre, Ala and Ofusu within the Central senatorial district.

Briefing the Rural Community farmers at their different settlement centers during the visit, the head of the visiting team, Mr. Eniola Ogunbodede, said the development was to create awareness that the state government has commenced full implementation of securing farm locations.

Ogunbodede who is the Chairman of the consultant Security Agency, Global Olabod Resource Limited to the State Government said the initiative was to protect farmers and encourage them back to their farms to ensure food sufficiency and curb high cost of products being experienced in the country.

Ogunbodede, who was represented by the agency’s Project Director, Mr. Debo Ariyo, appreciated the cooperation and support received from the rural dwellers, just as he appealed for their continuous support in meeting the target of the state government.

He stressed the importance of identification at the farm sites, calling on those yet to be captured to do the needful to curb crimes and criminalities within the reserved areas.

Ogunbodede assured the communities of their continual visit to see to their welfare, and urged them to promptly alert appropriate authorities in case herdsmen and kidnappers invade their communities, for urgent intervention.

In their reactions, the heads of the affected communities and the chairmen of the farmers association appreciated the government for the kind gesture. They also lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for fulfilling the promise of the late Governor by chasing out killer herdsmen, kidnappers.

They expressed their readiness to support the government, while appealing that the exercise should not be politicized but taken very serious in securing the lives of the farmers to ensure massive food production.
