Ondo State government said it has expended over N30 billion to offset six of the seven backlog arrears of salaries owed the state workers by the immediate past administration.

The Chief of Staff to the governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale who disclosed this in an  interview with The Hope equally said governor Akeredolu is redefining governance and politics by bringing integrity to the system.

The gesture, according to the Chief of Staff was to bring succours to the workers and improve their welfare as promised by the present administration.

He further assured that Akeredolu-led government would not relent on its efforts to make improved welfare of workers an utmost priority and essential component of his administration.

The Chief of Staff affirmed that apart from taking care of the workforce in the state, Governor Akeredolu was equally embarking on massive infrastructural and industrial development to improve the socio-economic well-being of the citizenry and the state.

He explained that despite the little resources at government’s disposal, Governor Akeredolu has been judiciously managing it to transform all critical sectorsfor the betterment of the generality of the people.

He noted that by the time another legacy project of the present administration, the Ore flyover is commissioned in December, it would greatly boost the socio-economic activities not only in Ore, but the entire state.

Ale revealed that Governor Akeredolu is redefining governance and politics in the state, saying the governor has brought integrity and transparency to governance which is a clear departure from government and politics of deceit it used to be in the past.

According to him, everybody can see and feel the various developmental projects being executed across the three senatorial districts of the state, noting that it would be mischievous for anybody to say the governor has not done much in the last three years.

“It is pure mischief for anybody to say that Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has not done much in the state.

“Take for instance, the issue of payment of workers salaries touches every household. There is hardly any household in Ondo state without a public servant  and they are being paid regularly. When you pay a teacher or any civil servant, you can see the multiplier effect, the money goes round. It touches members of his/her immediately family, it touches the market women and even the artisans because the money flows in the economy.

“Look at the numbers of roads that have been constructed, tarred across the state; these are what people can see, and everybody talks about them. In Akure for instance, how will somebody say he does not know we have constructed the dual carriage road from ‘A’ Division to NEPA roundabout and streetlights provided.

“Also, the people of Idanre are commending Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the road project in the town. By the time the present administration came on board, only one road entered Idanre but today our government has opened up Idanre with another road from Idanre to Ijoka road which will connect the dual carriage way we are constructing.

” If you go to the Southern and the Northern senatorial districts of the state we are also constructing roads there and this has saved many lives and improved the economic fortunes of our people. Look at the legacy project in Ore, the flyover, which is now opening up the economy of the state. Go to Ore Industrial Hub- the Ondo Lynyi Industrial Project and see the number of companies that are springing up in that place.

“These companies have already started operations and thousands of unemployed youths of the state have been employed. One of our cardinal objectives as a government is to create jobs for our youths and we are doing this through the industrialisation of the state,” the Chief of Staff stressed.
