ODSG flags off Orisun Iye community bridge

Residents of Orisun Iye community in Oke Aro, Akure played host to the officials of the Ondo State Ministry of Works as the Commissioner, Taofiq Abdusallam yesterday flagged off the reconstruction of the Bridge, the community’s.

The Commissioner while flagging off the project assured the residents of quick completion stressing that work will start  in earnest.

He said that the bridge project had been in the pipeline for a long time and was recently approved assented to by the governor.

He advised the residents to give free rein to the men of the Direct Labour Unit of the Ministry so that the project could be concluded in record time.

While delivering a welcome address, Special Assistant to former Governor Olusegun Agagu, Mr Olumuyiwa Asagunla said that the road had been in bad shape for long and that it bridge got swept away due to heavy rain in April last year.

He lamented that the residents of the five quarters in the community did not find it easy plying other exits from other streets.

Asagunla also advocated that the road in the community be graded and tarred as the community housed about 10,000 residents.

He said that the bridge and the road if tarred would ease the congestion on the Idanre road as the road would be an access road for those crossing to Oshinle and Ijoka road.

He commended the government on the Iloro/Iwalewa road which was tarred and expressed hope that the gesture would be extended to their area.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Utility, Mr Tunji Light Ariyo while responding to the request for the provision of potable water in the community, promised to look into it .

He stated that the current administration was one that prioritized internal roads construction so that people can easily access the road to their houses.

One of the residents, Madam Funmilayo Adepoju while speaking with The Hope said that the issue of the road and the bridge had been a headache to the residents of the community.

She expressed happiness that commercial activities would improve in the community once the bridge is completed.
