Ondo State Government has commiserated with victims of tanker fire incident that occurred in Opa, in Idanre local government area.
The State Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky, Aiyedatiwa who visited the scene, said the State Emergency Management Agency would take stock of damages and loss to provide succour for victims.
The deputy governor, who thanked God that no life was lost, appreciated men of the fire service, for rising to the occasion to help reduce the effect of the disaster.
He noted that the government was always conscious of giving approval for siting of filling stations in the state, especially in residential areas, but noted that the filling station had been there and not a new one.
One of the victims, Mrs Dorcas Muhammed, whose house was burnt appealed to government for assistance.
Muhammed said that all the occupants of the house escaped through the backdoor and could not pick anything.
Also, Mrs Akinbode Akinwalere, who spoke on behalf of people their shops were burnt said that all their wares were burnt as they had to quickly escape to save themselves and their children.
The Chairman of Idanre Local Government, Prince Kayode Aroloye, who said he was at the scene on Saturday, appreciated the states government for its proactiveness.
Aroloye said the state government should consider siting a fire service station in the Local Government as he said the Idanre town was big enough for one.
