ODSG moves to end roadside trading

Ondo State Government has reiterated its determination to end indiscipline among traders displaying their products along major roads in Akure,  the state capital.

Special Adviser to the Governor on  Commerce and Industry, Fabiyi said, this at a meeting with market women at Erekesan  market, Akure on Wednesday

He charged the traders to go and occupy all the vacant stalls in the market rather than distrupt free flow of vehicular movement on the popular roads

He said, “we have a lot of market stalls yet unoccupied in Akure shopping mall, Isikan market and other markets where  traders  can  do well in  their trading activities, but  display their wares on  but they end up in occupied the major roads.

We must  curb the indecent act  by the market women that placed their goods on the roadside by assign War Against Indiscipline brigades to monitor all the activities in the market areas.”

The Special Adviser charged men of the WAI brigade to discharge their duties without fear or favour warning that anybody trying to frustrate them will be sanctioned accordingly.”

I appreciate the efforts of the agency.  They must not look into the eyes of anybody while performing the duty  assigned them, and they must not be frustrated by friends, relatives and people of the community”

“I want to assure the people that strict measures will be taken against anyone that violates the law by taken them to court and the law will take  its normal courses.”

Erelu Iyaloja of Akure Kingdom, Chief Mrs Mercy Adekanye pledged the support of traders  to  government but pleaded that government should provide another conducive market for them.
