ODSG open to partnership to enhance quality education — Agagu
By Saheed Ibrahim
Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olufemi Agagu, has said the state government is ready to partner with any reliable organisation working towards enhancing the quality of education in the state.
Agagu gave the assurance while receiving a team from the Daramola Adesuyi Foundation, DAF, during a courtesy call to him in his office in Akure.
The team, led by Mrs Stella Daramola, mother of the founder of the foundation and wife of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, were at the Commissioner’s office to present to him an application aimed at enhancing quality education in the state.
According to the foundation, the application was developed to aid students in preparing for their examinations, enhance their study skills and give them a broad knowledge of examination techniques with essential materials.
Mrs Stella Daramola said the team was at the State Ministry of Education to seek the approval of the state government to enable the foundation to deploy the application in schools.
She said the pilot project of the application has been tested in about ten schools in the state, and the outcome has been fantastic.
Responding, the Commissioner said he was impressed with the logical thinking of the founder and developer of the application, Mr Adesuyi Daramola.
He said such an application, if adopted, is capable of eradicating entirely the incidence of examination malpractice in our schools and thereby improving the quality of education.
The Commissioner said the intent of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s administration in the state was to provide standard and quality education for the people and produce students that can rival their counterparts across the globe.
He added that the state government was already collaborating with other partners on e-learning and other ICT teaching and learning methods to broaden the scope and expertise of our students in information technology.
