Against this backdrop, the men of the Nigerian Police Force, DSS, Civil Defense, Nigerian Army, Amotekun Corps and local Vigilante operatives in various local government areas of the state have been mobilized to commence effective surveillance and patrol in the state
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, who stated this while speaking with The Hope Metro on measures adopted to prevent hoodlums invasion into the state, hinted that all efforts are now geared towards ensuring the safety of all and sundry.
His words: “All measures have been taken to tighten up security and prevent the influx of criminals and men of questionable characters into the state.
” The Governor has directed the security agencies and Amotekun to be at alert and put up all preventive measures capable of sustaining the existing peace in the land and also to disallow any hoodlum into the state.
” We are aware of the security challenges at the moment in the South West zone of the nation, especially the recent massacre that occurred in Igangan, Oyo State. And we are not relenting on our efforts in tackling the issues bordering on safety of lives and property.
“The Governor has given marching order to Amotekun to deal ruthlessly with anybody who wants to truncate the peace and security of our sunshine state.
“We are strategising already and we are calling on the members of the public to give us useful information that will assist the security agencies curb crime and criminality happening at the moment,” he stated.
Dojumo, who said Ondo Amotekun leads other South west Corps, disclosed that day and night patrol and surveillance have been intensified, especially around the boundaries and borders with neighbouring states.
The SSA, however, warned that government will not tolerate incivility of any kind as security business is for everybody and not for security agencies alone.
This, according to him, is part of measures to checkmate every act of criminality in the suburb towns and villages in the state.
