Ondo State Government has sealed off and ordered the demolition of a company’s structure under construction along the course of River Ala in Akure, the state capital.
The structure behind Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School along Oba-Ile road, Akure was said to have been constructed in flagrant disobedience to the rules and regulations stipulated by the state government. The rules stipulate obtaining of building permit and approval from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development before embarking on such building.
Leading the Taskforce on Monitoring and Enforcement, the state Commissioner for the Ministry, Lola Fagbemi, stated that government gave the order to prevent flood disaster and other environmental hazards that could lead to loss of lives and properties.
The Commissioner, who frowned at the attitude of owners of the building who worked on the site after a STOP-WORK order has been placed on the building by the Ministry, said such individual should come to the Ministry for clarification or be ready for prosecution
She also placed a sealed off order on another building under construction at Alagbaka and directed the owner to report in her office for further clarification and presentation of approved documents validating the construction of the building.
Mrs Fagbemi reiterated the commitment of the Akeredolu-led administration to enhance modern physical planning and urban development of major cities and towns with a view to making the state attractive for living and an enviable model in Nigeria.
