ODSG partners CHAI on sustainable healthcare

Ondo state Ministry of Health in collaboration with Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) has inaugurated a Technical Working Group for Health Finance Equity and investment Unit to enhance accessibility, equity and sustainable healthcare system in the state

 Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Ministry of Health, Dr Adeniran Ikuomola while inaugurating the group noted that it’s establishment underscore the resolute commitment of the present administration to transforming the healthcare landscape in the state

According to him; “It is a strategic initiative at addressing multifaceted challenges that hinder equitable access to quality healthcare services in the state by leveraging on the innovative financing mechanism, fostering equity and attracting strategic investment”

He described the inauguration as a foundation for collaborative action and collective impact towards achieving Universal Health Coverage noting that the state rely on the expertise, insight and dedication of the members of the group.

The Permanent Secretary appreciated the member of the TWG for accepting the responsibility to serve the state while also urging them to be committed and passionate to be able to navigate the complexities of the assignment.

He expressed his profound gratitude to Clinton Health Access Initiative for sponsoring the inauguration and other subsequent quarterly meetings of the group

The Permanent secretary who is the chairman of the TWG promised to commence work immediately with the already laid down terms of reference saying” we will put in our best to strengthen our healthcare system with total dedication

The representative of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr Uzoamaka Nwankwo noted in his goodwill message that the inauguration of the unit would put healthcare financing at the centre adding that it will enable progress towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.

The representative of the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Mrs Ruth Adetokunbo also emphasized that the TWG will help to monitor Health expenditures pattern, provide necessary information, identify health system problems and improve the system performance

The State Coordinator of the World Health Organisation, Dr Dele David appreciated the Government of Ondo state for emplacing the group while emphasing that his organization will continue to support healthcare system in the state.

The 60 member Technical Working Group has the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health as the Chairman and Director Planning Research and Statistics of the Ministry, Dr Richard Adesoji as the secretary.
